I am running for re-election to Belmont's Select Board so we can sustain the great progress we are making in our town. During the last three years, we have taken decisive action to keep Belmont's future bright. But we have more work ahead of us, and need strong leadership to get results.
Belmont has wonderful neighborhoods, excellent schools, and a strong sense of community. We also have our share of challenges, including aging infrastructure, fiscal pressures, climate concerns, and traffic issues.
Since 2017, we have taken major steps forward on all these things. Our new building projects — the middle and high school, police station, and DPW — will help keep our schools strong, our citizens safe, and our quality of life intact.
I have led us forward on many other key issues. We have passed tax relief for seniors, overhauled the town's energy policies to become a state leader in renewable power, developed a plan to create more affordable housing, and used sensible budgeting to maintain town services and keep our AAA bond rating intact.
In the face of increased traffic, I have worked successfully for approval of the Community Path route, the Alexander Avenue underpass, and Complete Streets funding to improve Belmont's roads for pedestrians and cyclists, while creating a town-wide traffic study so we can develop solutions for Belmont residents. .
We have also begun strategic planning to diversify town revenues and identify new business opportunities. I even drove an overhaul of our committee rules to help more Belmont residents bring their expertise to town governance. You can find a list of my accomplishments in office here.
Since the day I was elected, I have worked hard to represent all of Belmont, and been prepared to address every issue we face. My pledge is to keep listening to voices across our community, and to keep taking action to benefit Belmont.
I would appreciate your vote in April 2020, and look forward to hearing from you as our campaign moves forward.
